Our Programs

Empowering the Next Generation

WYSE is designed to elevate the middle school experience with small class sizes, individualized curriculum, social-emotional support and outdoor education.  Our programs include interest-based topics, problem-solving, and project-oriented group work to help our students intensify their curiosity and passion for learning.  The students lead the way.  We are here to support their interests.

We look forward to getting to know your child and your family!

Academic Year Programming

Our core program runs four days weekly at our main campus in downtown New Milford from September through May. The student experience includes diverse curricula, extracurricular activities, and opportunities to bond as a community. We offer many options for our students, helping them along their unique educational path.

Fridays Out

Friday, our fifth day of classes, is optional, registered by term.  In the Autumn & Spring, students spend their days outside, exploring the woods, identifying plants and animals, and learning the science of nature in the field.  Winter is for cozying up in the kitchen for relaxed cooking classes, kitchen science, and discussions around the relationship between cooking and culture.

Interest Based Learning

Interest-based learning is the core tenet of our program. When students are given the freedom to learn about topics that genuinely interest them, they are more engaged, more attentive, and more likely to develop their love of learning. We encourage our students to think beyond the scope of classes currently offered and to request courses in subjects that interest them. We recruit staff and assemble a class schedule each year based on the requests of students and parents. This makes each student’s learning experience personalized and unique, just like them!
